Armenia's delegation headed by Finance Minister David Sargsyan will leave for Washington on November 20 to attend a meeting of the Armenian-American Intergovernmental Committee, the Finance Ministry said.
The agenda of the meeting includes issues on energy security and integration, water resources management, environment, tax and customs administering, as well as reforms in the field of procurement, civil aviation and visa facilitation. The two parties will study investment stimulation and mechanisms of improving the business environment.
According to ArmInfo's data, the key issue on agenda of the upcoming meeting will be resumption of the programs of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in Armenia. The project was launched in 2006 and was to be completed in Sept 2011. Armenia was to receive $235 million under the MCC programs.
However, the MCC Board of Directors headed by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton suspended financing of the programs in Armenia in March 2009 for lack of sufficient progress in democratic reforms.
