Baku. During 2012 SOCAR exported a total of 1,243,742 tons
of oil products through the Marketing and Economic Operations Department,
according to SOCAR's information.
During
2011 a total of 1,448,068 tons of oil products were exported via this
Department. In a year, SOCAR's oil products export has decreased by 14.1%.
During 2012 the following oil products
were exported: 921,057 tons of diesel fuel (1,267,093 tons in 2011), 145,098
tons of aviation fuel (78,867 tons), 60,142 tons of automobile gasoline (96,537
tons), 113,027 tons of vacuum gasoil (information unavailable) and 3,023 tons
of black oil (5,571 tons).
Reduction
in the volume of exported oil products, especially automobile fuel, is mainly
connected with a sharp growth in demand for these types of oil products from
the local market. This is connected with the growing number of cars in the
country (during the past two years the number of cars in the country has
increased by almost 140,000) as well as poor city infrastructure (also its poor
management), which leads to traffic jams on the street even during non-rush
hours.
