ArmInfo. A photo exhibition "From Astana to Yerevan" dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the new capital of Kazakhstan and the 2800th anniversary of the capital of Armenia was held today in the bright halls of the Yerevan metro.
?mbassador of Kazakhstan to Armenia Timur Urazyaev told journalists about the idea of organizing a photo exhibition in the metro, presented cooperation between the capitals, and the history of the foundation of a new capital of Kazakhstan. "The employees of our embassy came with an idea to organize a photo exhibition in the subway. Actually metro is the most popular transport, in addition, in July, when the weather in Yerevan is too hot, it is practically impossible to find a more comfortable place to view photos. "
Urazyaev noted that the exhibition is held in 3 metro stations - "Yeritasardakan", "Marshal Baghramyan" and "Republic Square", thus the residents of Yerevan have a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with the views of Astana at three metro stations. "You can get quite a lot of interesting information about Astana and Yerevan. Although the photo exhibition is attached to the anniversaries of the two capitals the disparity of in years of which is huge, however, both capitals develop and keep up with the time, "the Ambassador said.
Touching upon the cooperation and interaction between the two capitals, the Ambassador assured that all the agreements reached with the former government remain in force. "I believe that we need to fulfill the whole potential of trade and economic relations. We are working on this and we already have successes, in 2017 the growth of trade turnover between the countries by 59% was a very good indicator, demonstratring the effectiveness of the mechanisms of the Eurasian Economic Union. In addition, we also envisage cultural events and Kazakh artists will celebrate the anniversary of Yerevan. We are also waiting for Armenian artists in Astana. Celebrations on the occasion of the anniversary of the city will continue until the end of the month, " Timur Urazyaev said, stressing that recently there have been joint visits of journalists.
The Ambassador also talked about a very interesting, and even unusual decision regarding the transfer of the Kazakh capital from Almaty to Astana. "The transfer of the capital to Astana was a very decision of our president, who in the difficult 1990-ies, wanted to solve the socio-economic problems of post-Soviet Kazakhstan. Undoubtedly, there was much skepticism, given the difficult economic situation throughout the CIS, but then the idea fully justified itself, as Astana became the guarantor of the socio-economic development of the whole of Kazakhstan. Nowadays Astana is a city where millions live, it perfectly combines the features of both the European urban architecture tradition and Asian urban planning, "the Ambassador said.
The Ambassador thanked for the support and assistance in organizing the exhibition, as well as for the provision of archive photos, in particular Kazinform Information Agency, the Foreign Ministry, from which some of the photos were obtained, and the national archive of Kazakhstan. In turn, Minister of Culture of Armenia Lilit Makunts who attended the event also congratulated Kazakhstan on the approaching anniversary of the capital. "I'm happy to be at a cultural event that unites not only culture lovers, but also representatives of various nations. The photo exhibition presents both old and new parts of the cities, which reminds us that it is necessary to preserve not only the old culture, but also to cultivate a new one, "the Minister said.
Davit Gevorgyan, the Head of the External Relations Department of the Yerevan City Hall staff, noted that a cooperation agreement has been drawn up between the two cities - Yerevan and Astana. Cooperation is envisaged in the socio-economic, cultural and other fields, that is, those fields that can unite the two people.
