The Israeli-Azerbaijani shameful arms deals have lasted for 10 years, Israeli historian Yair Auron has told ArmInfo.
He thinks Israel will keep conducting that policy. The historian points out that he himself has repeatedly tried to influence such shameful deals, however, his attempts were in vain.
The only thing he has managed to do was to publish in Israel articles expressing his personal opinion about the arms policy of Israel. Yair Auron says that he visited Artsakh and expressed his impressions in an article.
Auron is convinced that Israeli people should have been among the first nations to recognize the Armenian Genocide, however, Israel is still among the countries that deny that fact. Meanwhile, by denying this fact, Israel betrays the memory of the Holocaust victims, the historian says.
At the same time, the historian is more than convinced that the society of his country shares the feelings of Armenian people. Auron believes that one day the Israeli people will correct their mistake and the Knesset will recognize the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. He thinks it will become a big step forward towards international recognition of that tragedy.
During Azerbaijan's recent aggression (April 2-5) against Nagorno Karabakh, the Defense Army of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic destroyed 6 Israeli-made drones of the Azerbaijani forces. It is noteworthy that on those days Azerbaijan for the first time applied the so-called Harop "suicide-drone" made by Israel Aerospace Industries in fighting. It exploded destroying a bus killing seven volunteers driving to Karabakh from Armenia.
By unconfirmed data, besides unmanned aircrafts, Baku bought from Israel Iron Dome missile defence system, Barak 8 surface-to-air missile, and SYPDER SR, EXTRA Extra guided ballistic surface launched rockets.
