ArmInfo.I have no special expectations from the upcoming meeting between the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. On March 26, head of the "Bright Armenia" parliamentary faction Edmon Marukyan said in an interview with journalists.
He noted that during the negotiations, the parties will naturally discuss the issue of returning Artsakh to the negotiating table. "As I have already noted, for the entire world community, it is obvious that the Armenian side does not intend to surrender the territories, and in Azerbaijan they are not ready to recognize the independence of Artsakh. Thus, at the moment I don't see any particular prospects," Marukyan said.
At the same time, he said that such meetings are necessary. "In any case, it is much better to hold meetings and negotiate than to constantly maintain tension on the Line of Contact. Therefore, negotiations on this issue should continue," the MP concluded.
To note, as ArmInfo reported, the Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting will take place on March 29 in Vienna with the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. To note,Yerevan and Baku have repeatedly reported on the upcoming meeting of Pashinyan-Aliyev. This was stated in the latest statement of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, made after a visit to the region. As Pashinyan said earlier at a big press conference, the agenda of the meeting will include the specification of the principles on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict and the issue of bringing Artsakh to the negotiating table
