ArmInfo.Since January 1, 2019, salaries in polyclinics have been significantly increased. On March 25, Armenian Deputy Minister of Healthcare Arsen Davtyan stated this during a meeting of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Health and Social Issues. He noted that from August 2018, the salary of outpatient clinics employees was raised by 25-30% and since January 2019, wages have been raised by another 15%.
However, Davtyan pointed out the problems. In particular, according to him, the maternity hospital in Gyumri is in a deplorable state. As noted by the Deputy Minister, in this hospital there is no necessary medical equipment, not even a sonograph, which is necessary for examining pregnant women. "The maternity hospital building also has terrible conditions, all of which is connected with financial problems. And this is against the background of a constant decline in the birth rate in Gyumri," said Davtyan, adding that the Ministry increased funding for the maternity hospital in 2019.
In turn, another Deputy Healthcare Minister, Lena Nanushyan, noted that there is a serious shortage of personnel in the regional medical institutions. According to her, at the moment there are about 200 vacancies in regional medical institutions, especially there are not enough anesthetists and resuscitators. "In order to eliminate the problem of shortage of doctors in the regions of the country, representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare, in the framework of the state order conclude contracts with the residents, so that the latter, after graduation, got a job in the regions," the Deputy Minister stressed. She also noted that the doctors of Yerevan medical centers will be sent to the regions for a period of three months.
