ArmInfo. It is no longer possible to import special devices to Armenia to organize secret listening. On March 22, head of the National Security Council of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan stated during the meeting of the parliamentary commission on defense and security.
He noted that law regulates now the ban on the importation of these funds. Vanetsyan did not know if they were brought into Armenia earlier. The head of the National Security Service stressed that the import of these devices is the focus of the service. "Only those structures that have the authority to carry out operational intelligence activities, as well as customs control, have the right to import these devices," he explained.
Vanetsyan also stressed that the mechanism of wiretapping should remain exclusively under the authority of the National Security Service. The Head of the Service noted that not only the National Security Service, but also some other bodies, has the right to eavesdrop, however, it is the National Security Service that provides communication channels. "I think that this is correct, and there should be no changes in this sphere," Vanetsyan concluded.
