As the minister pointed out, today there are 339 landfills in Armenia, none of which is in line with international standards. "Basically, these are local landfills, dug by order of the heads of communities. Sometimes they are covered with land, and sometimes not. Of course, there are also those that the citizens themselves" equipped "near the ravines, where you can" unnoticeably "throw garbage, noted the minister.Papikyan noted that the nationwide clean-up day will launch monthly activities aimed at cleaning all communities of Armenia from debris.
"One day per year will be declared a republic-wide day of cleanliness, and on this day, citizens of the country will put in order not only their yards and gardens, but also the territories adjacent to their houses,"- he said. Papikyan also said that the RA government began a study on the structural composition of household waste, these studies will be carried out by a British company in order to determine how much garbage is produced annually in Armenia. "Proceeding from this, we will be able to present a real picture to our partners who wish to invest in the field of garbage collection and processing," he explained. At the same time, as Suren Papikyan pointed out, it is necessary to reconsider the attitude towards the purity of the environment as a whole. each of us realized that there is a territory outside our home, which is also under our care. We must break down stereotypes and understand that the entire territory of our country is our common property, "he said.
