ArmInfo.Azerbaijan's holding of large-scale, unannounced offensive exercises, in violation of OSCE principles, do not contribute to the preparation of nations for  peace. Spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan  stated this on March 20 at a press conference in Yerevan.

"This issue was raised in the OSCE, clarifications were demanded from  Azerbaijan. This also applies to the deployment of a new military  unit in the border area, and the recent mortar shelling from  Azerbaijan.  Armenia and Artsakh have the potential for both defense  and counteroffensive, and are decisive in ensuring to own security.  Let no one doubt this, " Naghdalyan concluded.  Last week, the Armed  Forces of Azerbaijan conducted large-scale military exercises last  week, in which up to 10,000 military personnel were involved, up to  500 units of tanks, armored vehicles, including automobile and  special equipment, up to 300 rocket and artillery systems of  different caliber, salvo jet systems fire and mortars, up to 20 units  of army and front-line aviation for various purposes.  In addition,  Azerbaijan has deployed a new military unit on the border with  Armenia. It is noted that the Tavush region of the Republic of  Armenia borders the territory. "Artsakhpress" reports with reference  to the Azerbaijani media. The military unit is located on the border  of Kazakh-Akstafa. According to the information, head of the State  Border Service of Azerbaijan, Elchin Guliyev, reported on the new  military unit.
