ArmInfo.There is great potential for strengthening and developing partnerships between Armenia and the United States in the field of education. On March 19, receiving the US Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy, RA Minister of Education and Science Arayik Harutyunyan said this.
According to the ministry's press service, stressing that education is one of the priorities of the Armenian government, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science presented to the Ambassador the agenda of reforms in the field. Harutyunyan also noted that at present the efforts of the RA Government are mainly aimed at improving general education programs, the development of standards and strategies, and the improvement of the system of teacher development.
The Minister stressed the importance of cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), noting that, thanks to the programs being implemented, about 100 general education schools in various regions of Armenia were adapted to students with special educational needs.
Thanking for the reception, the US Ambassador noted that she was pleased to meet with the Minister of Education and Science of Armenia to discuss solid cooperation in the field of education, in particular, on the issue of in-depth study of the English language in the framework of inclusive education programs and academic exchange.
During the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon the issues of teaching English, the training of teachers of the English language, the seismic stability of schools and a number of issues related to the Armenian- American cooperation.
