ArmInfo. The political team of the authorities supports the dismantling of the cafe on the territory adjacent to the Opera House, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinian said today in an interview with journalists. "Our team, of course, supports this general, team decision, and I believe that the public reaction is also very adequate," Tigran Avinyan said. The Deputy Premier stressed that the policy of the Municipality pursued in this direction should be consistent, since we are talking about the very center of the capital of Armenia, "There will be no privileged," he said.
To recall, on March 13 the Yerevan Municipality began dismantling a cafe near the Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. The owners of some cafes were extremely unhappy with the decision of the Municipality and tried to protest against the demolition. Despite the protests, the prefect of the Yerevan community of the Center, Viktor Mnatsakanyan, said that the cafe's dismantling work would continue, explaining that two objects were being demolished that are on the "first line" of the theater square ("Jazve" and "Atlantic"). He stated that he did not understand the reaction of the protesters, since the dismantling was announced within a month, and the cafe owners were informed about the planned works. At the same time, Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan stated that this is the beginning of the process, and it will be long. "I am grateful to all Yerevan residents for the fact that they support us in this issue, we feel your support. Let's return to Yerevan its cultural image," concluded Marutyan.
