ArmInfo. On March 15, RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zhanna Andreasyan held working discussions with partners from the World Bank and UNICEF.
According to the press service of the Ministry, the meeting participants discussed the implementation of social protection programs for citizens, and, in particular, the process of modernization of the family benefits system. Presenting the work and studies already done, the Deputy Minister noted that the priorities of the country's government include overcoming poverty, one of the main conditions of which is a complete revision of the family allowance system. "The current system is multistage and consists of many components. To change it, it is necessary to use the already applied and used mechanisms and tools that will allow receiving a full analysis and a comprehensive view," Zhanna Andreasyan said.
She noted that first of all it is necessary to streamline the target directions of the system and tasks, to understand the existing problems and to inventory them. The policy being developed should not become a monopoly of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. It envisages combining the efforts of various ministries and agreeing on different policies. Representatives of partner organizations during the meeting expressed their willingness and assistance to become participants in the processes being implemented, sharing their experience. They presented the already developed mechanism, criteria and monitoring system, which will make it possible to reform not only the family allowance system, but become a means for the successful implementation of programs in the areas of employment, demography and other areas. Expressing gratitude for the cooperation, Zhanna Andreasyan added that by combining the efforts and capabilities of the parties, in the near future, it will be possible to develop sound policies in this area and get real results.
