ArmInfo. The government of Armenia at its meeting on March 14 issued a positive opinion on the draft amendments to the Civil Code and in a package of related laws submitted by MP Arthur Davtyan.
As Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan noted in his speech, the MPproposes to exempt the judges from using court fines against lawyers and prosecutors participating in the trials. This measure, according to the parliamentarian, should help increase the independence of lawyers and protect their interests. Nevertheless, continued Artak Zeynalyan, the government of the country offers an alternative solution to the problem. This, in particular, is about sending the judges to the Chamber of Lawyers, which, on the basis of this submission, will receive the right to initiate administrative proceedings. "The presence of the court's appeal will be a prerequisite for initiating such a case," the Minister of Justice emphasized.
