ArmInfo. The Armenian parliament on an ambush on March 14 in the second and final reading approved the draft amendments to the laws "On the ban on the import of right-hand drive cars" and "On public service".
According to the draft amendments to the law "On the ban on the import of right-hand drive cars", the terms of import of right-hand drive cars to Armenia are extended until May 1, 2019. Cars purchased before December 30, 2018 are subject to import. For the remaining vehicles, this measure will not apply. It is envisaged that about 1 thousand vehicles with right-hand drive, accumulated in the customs zone at the Bagratashen checkpoint, are to be brought into the country. Earlier it was proposed to establish the final date by April 1 of this year. However, taking into account the limited time (the adoption of the document by the Parliament and its entry into force) on the proposal of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia, this period was postponed to May 1, 2019.
As for the amendments to the law "On Public Service", it is planned to extend the deadline for submission of declarations on property and income of Armenian officials until May 31. In 2017, the Parliament of Armenia adopted a law on countering corruption, according to which it was envisaged to form a commission to counter corruption in 2018. Then, in 2018, the Law on Public Service was adopted, according to which the regulation of issues related to declarations was assigned to a commission, which, however, has not yet been formed. Meanwhile, the deadline for submission of income and property declarations of high-ranking officials is March 31. In this regard, it is proposed to extend this period until May 31 of this year, and the full application of the law is envisaged to start from January 1, 2020, since the current version provided for the application of the provisions of the document from January 1, 2019. At the same time, those conscientious persons who have fulfilled their obligations by submitting their declarations to the ethics commission are exempt from liability.
