ArmInfo. Georgia is interested in strengthening and deepening relations with friendly Armenia and is ready to continue effective cooperation in the defense sector. This was stated by Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the press service of the government, Izoria stressed the importance of signing a program of bilateral cooperation in the field of defense for 2019 during a meeting with the Armenian defense minister.
In turn, Pashinyan stressed the importance of strengthening and developing fraternal relations between Armenia and Georgia in various fields. Touching upon a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhdadze in Bolnis in January of this year, the Prime Minister noted that today's friendly, working atmosphere between the countries would best contribute to expanding cooperation, raising it to a new level. In this vein, Pashinya attached particular importance to frequent high-level visits between the two countries and political consultations at various levels.
According to the source, the interlocutors discussed issues related to the agenda of the Armenian-Georgian cooperation in the field of defense, confirming their readiness to strengthen the current partnership and implement new initiatives.
The sides also exchanged views on issues of regional security and ensuring stability, peaceful settlement of conflicts, giving particular importance to joint efforts in this direction. Pashinyan stressed the importance of a balanced bilateral position in resolving regional conflicts, and Georgia, as Izoria noted, attaches particular importance to establishing good- neighborly relations in the region and supports efforts for their peaceful settlement.
