ArmInfo. To sue is the constitutional right of every citizen. The director of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia, Artur Vanetsyan, told reporters on February 21, referring to the threat of Robert Kocharyan's eldest son, Sedrak Kocharyan, to sue the National Security Service "for gross violation of its presumption of innocence."
"Of course, Sedrak Kocharyan can sue, and the court will decide whether we are guilty or not," Vanetsyan said. As the head of the National Security Service pointed out, there can be no political harassment against Robert Kocharyan and his family members and everything was objectively stated in the statement of the special services. "I didn't want to spread the message at all, the initiative was on their part. I gave a brief explanation, after which they made a voluminous explanation and we had to respond," he explained.
The director of the National Security Service stressed that the presumption of innocence against Sedrak Kocharyan was not violated, "the statement of the National Security Service indicated the circumstances that gave reason to open a case and bring an accusation." According to him, a large-scale criminal case on money laundering was initiated, but he cannot say more.
As for the civil lawsuit filed in the court against the head of the National Security Service, Vanetsyan noted that the lawsuit was for the statement he made at the press conference. "Immediately after the press conference, I stated that I had incorrectly formulated the idea, in connection with which I had clarified. That is, why they appealed to the court was initially refuted by me," Artur Vanetsyan said.
