ArmInfo.A special investigative service has put forward an accusation against the MP of the Prosperous Armenia Party, former chief of security of the PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan Edward Babayan.
In particular, he is charged with inflicting heavy injuries world boxing champion Nikolay Arutyunov"s father Vyacheslav Arutyunov (1 part of the 112th article of the RA Criminal Code). The case with the indictment was sent to the prosecutor's office for his transfer to the court. The prosecutor's office, however, promised to answer the question later - whether the indictment was approved or not.
To note, earlier Babayan was arrested in this case, later released on bail. The Prosperous Armenia Party made a statement in this regard, emphasizing that the court decision is a manifestation of political persecution against the PAP. To recall, the incident occurred in the "Olympiavan" complex owned by the leader of the PAP Gagik Tsarukyan. Vyacheslav Arutyunov, in particular, expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that Tsarukyan did not keep his word and did not release his son, who in 2012 became a junior boxing champion, from the army. Tsarukyan did not like this very much, who, on the basis of the initial testimony of Arutyunov, recorded by the Special Investigation Service hit him, and later the oligarch guards led by Babayan joined the process. As a result, Arutyunov with severe injuries was hospitalized.
It is noteworthy that after a few hours, the victim changed his initial testimony, assuring that he was on good terms with Tsarukyan, that he was injured because he slipped on a wet floor, as in the famous film: "slipped, fell, regained consciousness - gypsum ". Just unlike the hero of the film, Arutyunov received not closed, but multiple open fractures. Subsequently, the head of the police, Valery Osipyan, in an interview with journalists, stated that he did not believe in the victim's history as "slipped, fell, regained consciousness - gypsum". "You yourself can guess what caused the change in his testimony," the chief police officer hinted, after which Babayan was arrested. Despite a change in the testimony of the victim, Babayan was not charged.
Moreover, in view of the victim's initial testimony that Tsarukyan himself took part in the beating, the case from the Investigation Committee was transferred to the Special Investigation Service. However, later Tsarukyan's name did not appear on the file. If the charge against Babayan is confirmed, the investigating authorities should appeal to the National Assembly to deprive Babayan of parliamentary immunity.
