ArmInfo. Yerevan entered the top 5 romantic cities of the CIS. Analytical agency TurStat conducted an online survey to compile a ranking of the most romantic cities in the CIS and neighboring countries for romantic travels of Russian tourists on weekends and holidays.
According to TurStat, romantic tourism in the CIS countries amounts to more than 1 million trips per year. The top 5 romantic cities of the CIS, popular for tourist trips on weekends, are Tbilisi in Georgia, Astana in Kazakhstan, Baku in Azerbaijan, Minsk in Belarus and Chisinau in Moldova.
Tbilisi, as the most romantic city of the near abroad and the CIS for traveling, received 33% of votes, Astana, Baku and Minsk - 14% each, Chisinau - 10%. Alma-Ata in Kazakhstan, Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan and Yerevan in Armenia also got into the rating of the most romantic cities of the CIS, receiving 5% of votes. Romantic tourism includes tours and independent trips for two on a weekend. February 14 is Valentine's Day, on which it is customary to make gifts to loved ones.
