ArmInfo. Russia de facto provided Armenia with a gas discount. About this in an interview with RIA Novosti said Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin.
According to him, the supply of Russian natural gas is carried out at preferential, compared to world prices, determined on a contractual basis. In connection with the expiration of the contract for the sale of gas between December 31, 2018 between Gazprom export and Gazprom Armenia, an additional agreement was signed to the contract, according to which the gas price for Armenia from 2019 is set at 165 US dollars per 1000 cubic meters instead of the previous $ 150. It should also be taken into account, he noted, that the Russian exporter did not apply the recalculation of the price of gas depending on the calorific value (the natural gas supplied by us has a high heat capacity).
"This de facto represents an additional commercial discount reflecting the allied nature of relations between our countries. Gas supplies from Russia (about 2 billion cubic meters annually) fully meet the needs of the republic," Karasin said. He also added that the allied relations between the two countries are large-scale in all areas and are not limited to the pricing of Russian gas supplies.
Meanwhile, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan repeatedly stated that negotiations between the RA and Russia on determining the price of gas are still ongoing in the long term. Moreover, he did not rule out the possibility that, as a result of these negotiations, the price of Russian gas for Armenia at the border could drop from the current $ 165 per 1000 kBm.
