ArmInfo. The Investigation Committee of Armenia recorded an increase in crimes committed against children in 2018, the press service of the IC reports.
According to the source, in 2018, 317 criminal cases on crimes committed against children were examined in the Armenian Investigative Committee, while in 2017 the number of such crimes was 265.
It is noteworthy that among the crimes committed against children, sexual actions prevail. Thus, 36 cases were recorded under the article - sexual intercourse of a person who has reached the age of eighteen, or other actions of a sexual nature, with a person who is obviously under the age of sixteen; 11 cases of rape. 41 cases refer to Article 118 of the RA Criminal Code (beatings), 15 crimes were committed in accordance with Article 173 of the RA Criminal Code (malicious evasion of a parent from keeping a child).
10 crimes belong to Article 131 of the RA Criminal Code (kidnapping), another 10 crimes were committed under Article 112 of the RA Criminal Code (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm). 9 crimes were committed under Article 137 of the RA Criminal Code (threat of murder, causing grievous bodily harm or destruction of property), 8 of Article 119 of the RA Criminal Code (torture), 7 of Article 117 (intentional infliction of light injury), 7 of Article 167.1 (illegal separation child with parents or child substitution).
3 cases were committed under article 109 of the RA Criminal Code (causing death by negligence), 3 to 110 articles of the RA Criminal Code (bringing to suicide), 2 to 104 articles of the RA Criminal Code (murder), 2 to 106 articles (murder of a newborn child by the mother), another 2 crimes were committed under article 132.2 (trafficking in persons with respect to a minor), 1 crime was committed under article 113 of the RA Criminal Code (intentionally causing harm to moderate severity to health), 1 crime was committed under article 120 (causing serious harm to health through negligence), another 1 crime against child implemented by 1 Article 68 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (sale of children). Of the cases in production, 305 children were recognized as victims, of which 157 children are under the age of 12 years old, 43 children are between the ages of 12 and 14, 69 are 14-16 years old, 36 are 16-18 years old violence against 66 out of 305 victims (21.6% of the total number of child victims) was committed by a family member. According to the indictment in the courts 69 criminal cases were initiated against 73 people. Two petitions were filed in court for the application of compulsory medical measures.
