ArmInfo. The Green Climate Fund (GCF) intends from 2020 to provide developing countries with $ 100 billion annually. This was announced during the regular seminar- meeting at the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia with the participation of representatives of state and private enterprises in the field of agriculture and energy, as well as scientific structures.According to the press service of the ministry, during the seminar, the financial instruments of the fund and information on cooperation mechanisms were presented.
Irina Kaplanian, First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia, noted that expenditures on environmental protection are in fact serious and long-term investments. "Creating infrastructure for adaptation and mitigation from climate change, with the assistance of the GCF, will help address environmental issues and the socio-economic development of the country," she said.Note that the GCF (Green Climate Fund) is jointly funded by EBRD and the Green Climate Foundation. The GCF is the largest international climate fund established in 2010 under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. GCF supports low-emission and climate-mitigation programs in developing countries.
