ArmInfo.Armenia will send 210 million drams to improve the reproductive health of men and women. Minister of Healthcare of Armenia Arsen Torosyan announced this on January 23 at a meeting with journalists.
According to the minister, a similar program with a budget of about 50 million drams has been operating in Armenia before. But according to Torosyan it was ineffective. This year, it was decided to allocate 210 million drams for a program to improve the reproductive health of couples suffering from infertility. This week, the Ministry of Healthcare will decide on how to provide these funds. Most likely, the funds will be used to find out the causes of infertility, and only part of the purchase of services for IVF (In vitro fertilization-Red). "As experience shows, it is more efficient to spend money on finding out the causes of the problem and solving it than on multiple couples using IVF," the Minister of Healthcare stressed In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an assisted reproductive technology most often used in the case of infertility. In the people, this medical procedure is called "in vitro fertilization" or "artificial insemination."
