ArmInfo. There is no epidemic of H1N1 virus in Armenia. The Minister of Healthcare of Armenia Arsen Torosyan expressed this opinion on January 23 to journalists. According to Torosyan, this year, flu vaccinations are carried out on a large scale, and high activity is observed precisely in the current period.
At the same time, the minister noted that the department is not able to meet all the demand, because this year the state buys a vaccine against influenza for target groups of high risk - children from 1 to 5 years old, pregnant, people with chronic diseases, people over 65 years old.
However, in fact, representatives of these categories are trying to avoid vaccination, and healthy people are applying for vaccinations. "While we still have a vaccine, which we distribute among clinics to meet demand, but soon it will not be there, the seasonality of the disease will also pass, and the Health Ministry will purchase vaccines for the new season," Torosyan said.
The head of the Ministry of Healthcare recognized that in Armenia there was a single case of death of a person who was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, but the disease proceeded against the background of a severe chronic disease. "We also had numerous cases of confirmed diagnosis of the H1N1 virus, but all patients received treatment and had already been discharged from hospitals," he explained. The H1N1 virus, as pointed out by Arsen Torosyan, is the only strain of the influenza virus to be treated. But there is no epidemic of this strain or any other in Armenia and, according to the minister, the situation in the country has already been stabilized.
On January 15, the Ministry of Healthcare of Armenia reported that a 62-year-old man died from cardiopulmonary insufficiency in one of the hospitals of Armenia, who also had the H1N1 flu virus. Death occurred due to exacerbation of heart failure. Already on January 22, the Ministry of Healthcare reported that in Armenia there is a tendency to decrease the calls of ambulance teams and hospitalization due to acute respiratory diseases. 92.0% of 700 hospitalized citizens are children under the age of 14 years. At the same time, 84 calls of ambulance crews were registered, which also indicates a decrease in the number of calls. The incidence of H1N1 influenza A subspecies has been significantly reduced.
