ArmInfo. The new authorities of Armenia in their promises turned out to be much more honest than their predecessors. The head of the research and analytical public organization , coordinator of the Eurasian expert club Aram Safaryan expressed this opinion during the spacebridge Yerevan-Moscow.
As an example, he cited the fact that a commission on Eurasian integration was created in the new parliament of Armenia, which was not done under the previous authorities, despite their promises. He stressed that the new government of Armenia has two or three years left to exhaust the limit of public confidence. "By this date, it should have time to realize the promise of reform, in order not to lose its unprecedented legitimacy," the expert stressed. Touching upon public expectations from the new authorities, Safaryan stressed that the people want continuity and predictability of foreign policy against the background of internal reforms. "At the same time, we must be assertive in advancing our national interests," he stressed.
Candidate of Sociological Sciences, member of the Eurasian Expert Club Samvel Manukyan, in turn, stressed that almost all recent polls show that the society is consolidated in its expectations from the authorities of the country. "Here is the main list of public expectations from the new authorities - affordable healthcare, quality education, secured old age, peace and job creation," said the sociologist.
Touching upon the criticism of the opposition regarding the preservation of a strong premier system by Nikol Pashinyan, he stressed that this system fully justifies public expectations and corresponds to the patriarchal mentality and ideology of the Armenian people. "80% of the Armenian society has patriarchal, not liberal views, which correspond to a strong presidential or premier power. Only 20% of the society supports the liberal parliamentary form of government," the expert concluded.
