ArmInfo.The National Assembly of Armenia at a meeting on January 18 elected the chairmen of the standing parliamentary commissions.
According to Counting Commission's Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan, 129 parliamentarians from 132 MPs took part in the secret ballot. The representative of the My Step faction Vladimir Vardanyan was elected as head of the Commission on state and legal issues. Commission on healthcare and social issues was headed by Narek Zeynalyan ("My step"), the Commission on foreign relations - Ruben Rubinyan ("My step"), the Commission on science, education, culture, sports and the diaspora - Mkhitar Hayrapetyan ("My step") , the Commission on European Integration - Arman Eghoyan ("My Step"), the Commission of Territorial Administration, Local Government, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Sustainable Development - Varazdat Karapetyan, the Commission on Economic Affairs and Investments - Babken Tunyan and the Commission on Defense and Security - Andranik Kocharyan.
MP from the Prosperous Armenia faction Naira Zohrabyan was elected as head of the Human Rights and Social Affairs Commission, and Mikael Melkumyan, who represents the same faction, was elected to the Regional and Eurasian Integration Commission.
From the Bright Armenia Party, the position of the Chairperson of the Financial, Credit and Budgetary Affairs Commission was discharged from Mane Tandilyan.
Congratulating the newly elected commission chairpersons Speaker of the parliament Ararat Mirzoyan wished them fruitful and efficient work. He also informed about the formation of the NA Council, which, in addition to the NA President and its MPs, will include one representative from each faction.
