ArmInfo. The massacre of Armenians in 1990 in Baku is nothing but a manifestation of genocide. This was stated by the first ombudsman of Armenia, head of the public "Fund against legal tyranny" organization Larisa Alaverdyan at a press conference on January 18.
"People were tortured only because of their nationality. More than 400 people were killed, the human rights activist reminded. According to her, it is necessary to carry out work to recognize the events as what they really were. "However, the Armenian authorities have not taken a single document on this and other similar tragedies of the facts of the massacre, which qualify them as genocide. Only the Supreme Council of the Soviet union of Armenia called it genocide and demanded to punish the organizers and perpetrators. In subsequent years, Armenia has never dealt with this issue, "said Alaverdyan, adding that taking all this into account, the Artsakh side is distrustful of calls for peace with Azerbaijan.
She informed that the public "Fund against legal tyranny" organization will appeal to the National Assembly with a request to hold hearings on this issue in the hope that it will finally adopt a resolution calling things by their proper names.
