ArmInfo. The enemy knows and should know that today the Azerbaijani army is one of the strongest armies on a global scale, and this year additional steps  will be taken in this direction. According to Trend Baku news agency,  President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this in an introductory  speech at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of  socio-economic development in 2018 and the upcoming tasks.

"At the same time, last year we, of course, paid great attention to  our military potential, and there are impressive achievements in this  area. The combat capability of our army is growing, and the  Nakhijevan operation vividly confirmed this. As a result of a  successful Nakhijevan operation, we fully control 11,000 hectares of  land. This was a very successful operation. At the same time, the  occupied heights are strategic in nature. They allow us to fully  control the road connecting Armenia with Nagorno-Karabakh. That is,  this event, I mean Nakhijevan operation once again shows that the  Azerbaijani people and the state will never reconcile with the  occupation and will restore their territorial integrity in any way.  There is just hope for negotiations, so for now we consider the  negotiation path to be the main means. The work connected with combat  effectiveness, of course, deserves a very high mark, "the head of  state said.

"Last year we did a great job in strengthening the material and  technical base of our army. At the military parade we held twice, we  demonstrated a part of our equipment. The opposite side has no  ability to protect against these systems. These systems, having  crossed 300 kilometers or more, can destroy any military target with  great accuracy and great destructive power. Once again I want to say  that the enemy does not have a single military facility that we  couldn't destroy with high accuracy. The acquisition of these  systems, of course, increases our military power, while our military  power increases the acquisition of last year of new unmanned combat  aircraft and missile defense enhance our defense capabilities, while  other systems increase our offensive power.
