ArmInfo. In Echmiadzin, protests against the decision of the court on release on bail of Manvel Grigoryan resumed. The participants of the protest campaigns are currently conducting a pedestrian procession and notifying people that at 3:00pm the rally from Echmiadzin to Yerevan starts, demanding that Grigoryan be detained again.
Demonstrators will gather at 4:00pm near the building of the Criminal Court of Appeal in Yerevan, where the consideration of the petition to change the preventive measure against the former MP from the previously ruling Republican Party of Armenia, General Manvel Grigoryan, begins today.
To recall, the court of general jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan on the evening of December 21 decided to release on bail of General Manvel Grigoryan on bail of 25 million drams. He was charged under two articles: illicit trafficking in arms and ammunition and the appropriation of food and supplies intended for the Armed Forces. At the end of November, the arrested general appealed to the government, announcing his readiness to transfer to the state the territory of the Ankalich farm that belongs to him in the Aknalich community, costing about 6 billion drams. Lawyer Arsen Mkrtchyan urged not to consider this step as an attempt to pay off. After the court issued a decision on the release of Grigoryan on bail, the inhabitants of Echmiadzin blocked Grigoryan's entry into the city, thus expressing his attitude towards him.
On December 22, Acting , Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressing this topic stated that he did not understand the grounds on which the court's decision to release Manvel Grigoryan on bail was made. At the same time, according to Pashinyan, he understands the discontent of people protesting against the decision of the court. "Holding a protest is the right of citizens," he said. Protests were also held in Yerevan. Further, the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia filed an appeal against the decision of the court of general jurisdiction to release General Manvel Grigoryan on bail.
