ArmInfo.A solemn ceremony of presenting the mandates to lawmakers of the 7th convocation of the newly elected National Assembly was held on January 10 at the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan.
The oldest voter of Armenia - 103-year-old Bavakan Piloyan from the Saraart community (Lori region) presented the first mandate. She was transferred to the platform in a wheelchair, and then helped to stand up. She entrusted the mandate to Gurgen Baghdasaryan from the "Bright Armenia" party. After that, the youngest voter - 18-year-old Arshaluys Abrahamyan from the community of Vosketap (Ararat region) presented several mandates. The remaining mandates were also received from the hands of voters from various regions and the capital of Armenia.
In general, the CEC randomly selected 28 people - 2 from each constituency, another 2 people were selected as persons who first voted in the elections of December 9, 2018. "Today the ceremony of handing over the mandates, organized by the Central Election Commission in cooperation with international partners within the framework of the program" Support to electoral processes in Armenia, "the CEC head Tigran Mukuchyan said. He congratulated the lawmakers on their election to this important position and wished them success in the legislature of the country. To note, the first meeting of the newly elected Parliament will be held on January 14 at 10:00am. 132 lawmakers will work in the new parliament. In the National Assembly of the new convocation there will be 88 MPs from the "My step" bloc, 26 from the party "Prosperous Armenia" and 18 from the party "Bright Armenia".
