ArmInfo. Three citizens were charged in the case of smuggling a large consignment of drugs, two of whom are citizens of Iran.
According to the press service of the Investigative Committee, during the investigation of the case of smuggling and illegal drug trafficking on a large scale, it was revealed that a resident of Yerevan (born in 1982) entered into a preliminary conspiracy with an Iranian citizen (born in 1962) about purchasing and transporting a lot of drugs for $ 5,000 to Armenia.
According to the agreement, an Iranian citizen purchased 541.745 grams of methamphetamine. A compatriot (born in 1955) took over to help him smuggle drugs to Armenia for $ 1,200. In order to simplify the transportation of narcotics, it was decided to transport Armenia in liquid form in plastic containers. For this service a citizen born in 1955 should have received amounts in the amount of 1,200 dollars. The smuggling was imported into the country on July 6, 2018 through the Meghri checkpoint. During the preliminary investigation, it turned out that the 56-year-old Iranian citizen imported methamphetamine as well - 2.28 grams in RA, marijuana - 26.71 grams, hashish - 0.2 grams, opium - 5.39 grams. Another 63- year-old Iranian citizen kept methadone - 0.11 g, stored in Yerevan for his own use. All three are charged. Arrest was chosen as a measure of restraint. The case with the indictment is transferred to the court.
