ArmInfo. On December 14, Armenian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Tigran Seyranyan met with Speaker of the Czech parliament (lower house) Radek Vondrachek, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Armenia reports.
According to the source, during the meeting the interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues relating to the deepening and expansion of Armenian-Czech relations. The parties noted with satisfaction the high level of bilateral inter- parliamentary relations, stressing the importance of further developing relations, including mutual visits at a high level. Seyranyan particularly stressed the role of friendship groups within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, expressing confidence that in the near future the new National Assembly of Armenia will create an active friendship group with the Czech Republic.
The Ambassador presented the Speaker with democratic reforms in Armenia, and also touched upon the current level of settlement of the Karabakh issue. In turn, Radek Vondrachek confirmed the position of the Czech Republic on an exclusively peaceful settlement of the Karabakh issue through negotiations, and wished success to the positive processes taking place in Armenia. He especially emphasized the high level of Czech-Armenian inter-parliamentary relations, including at international sites. During the conversation, the parties stressed the need to use great potential in bilateral economic relations.
The parties stressed the importance of the duration of the cooperation programs between Armenia and the European Union. The Ambassador expressed the hope that the Lower House of the Czech Parliament will soon ratify the Comprehensive and Expanded Partnership Agreement signed between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union, noting that the Senate of the Czech Parliament has ratified it in May this year. In response to this remark, the Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament stated that the reason why the representatives of the lower house have not yet ratified the document is purely technical and expressed confidence that the issue will be settled soon.
