ArmInfo. An astronaut from Armenia in the future can be prepared to be sent into orbit. The deputy general director for international cooperation of the Roscosmos state corporation Sergey Saveliev announced this on December 14 to the journalists.
After opening the GLONASS station in the Byurakan Observatory in Armenia, Saveliev said that Russia and Roscosmos in the field of manned cosmonautics have great competencies. "Maybe in some perspective we can prepare and send an Armenian cosmonaut into orbit," said the deputy CEO, adding "we can talk about this." In addition, he stressed that for the Armenian-Russian interaction in the space sector, cooperation in the use of data from satellites of earth sounding satellites is a very important topic. According to Savelyev, today with Roskosmos with partners they are working out forms of such cooperation. In addition, satellite communications and telecommunications are considered promising areas. Saveliev noted that today space technologies are becoming increasingly important for the development of science, technology, as well as the economies of world countries.
Back in October 2017, ArmInfo reported that Armenia, with the assistance of the State Space Corporation Roscosmos, intends to take an active part in the implementation of various space programs. Roscosmos intends to take an active part in the implementation of various space programs.
