ArmInfo. The Russian Embassy in Armenia commented on the arrest of a Russian soldier who had been detained earlier on charges of beating a Gyumri resident, who later died.
"We paid attention to the incessant stream of emotional comments regarding the tragic incident in Gyumri. We still urge not to politicize this topic, not to make hasty conclusions and not to hinder the Armenian investigating authorities from carrying out their work. We would also like to express our condolences to the relatives and friends of the victim, "the Russian embassy said.
To note, a soldier of the 102nd Russian military base is accused on suspicion of a gruesome murder of a 57- year-old resident of Gyumri.
Earlier, a call for the withdrawal of the Russian military base was made by the Sasna Tsrer party, taking into account the murder of the Avetisyan family by the Russian soldier Valery Permyakov, as well as the last incident.
"Union of Informed Citizens" NGO made a statement in which it considered that the base violates its contractual obligations.
