ArmInfo. The court of first instance granted the petition of the preliminary investigation body to extend the arrest of the former MP of the National Assembly, retired general Manvel Grigoryan.
As Grigoryan's lawyer Arsen Mkrtchyan stated in an interview with journalists, "the court has become a branch of the Special Investigation Service." According to him, Grigoryan suffers from serious diseases that are incompatible with the arrest. "He suffers from 16 different diseases, including oncology, diabetes. We will appeal the decision to the higher courts. If necessary, we will also apply to the European courts," said Mkrtchyan. Manvel Grigoryan is accused of illegal possession of weapons and misappropriation of another's property. On June 19, the court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan granted the request of the preliminary investigation body, and Armenian MP Manvel Grigoryan was deprived of immunity and detained.
