ArmInfo. The second president of Armenia is an experienced political fighter, however, one should not exaggerate his influence on political life in Armenia. Andrei Areshev, a senior researcher at the Center for the Study of the Caucasus at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said this at a press conference on December 10.
He noted that one should not connect the arrest of Robert Kocharyan with the holding of early elections in Armenia, since the second President of Armenia did not take part in them. "In addition, one way or another, the Pashinyan bloc, which is popular, would have won the majority of votes. So the Kocharyan line is separate in the internal political processes in Armenia, and various processes are possible in it," the expert stressed. Areshev also noted that Kocharyan was involved in politics by the will of circumstances, in fact he was forced to return to the political arena of Armenia.
