ArmInfo. Early parliamentary elections in Armenia were democratic in their form, but not in content, the statement of the Republican Party of Armenia reads.
"They passed in an enviornment of intolerance towards dissent, under conditions of gross pressure on candidates, their supporters, heads of local self-government bodies, and unprecedented use of administrative resources. One of the main goals of the transition to a parliamentary system of government was to create the possibility of combining different, even opposing opinions. We regret that the election campaign created such deep dividing lines.
We wish success to the forces that passed to the parliament and the government they form, since the development and security of our country depends on it. The concern expressed by us during the election campaign was not populist, but expressed disagreement with the authorities' external, defense, social and economic policies, violations of national principles and, most importantly, with the expressed approaches on the Karabakh issue. We will continue our struggle as an extra-parliamentary political force",the Republican Party statement reads. RPA also thanks all its supporters who believed and voted for it in such difficult times. It is also noted that the aggregated official data do not reflect the result for which the party fought. It should be noted that, according to the election results, the RPA gained 4.7%.
