ArmInfo. The hotel complex "Golden Palace" in Tsakhkadzor was acquired by illegal means. This was stated on December 9 by the Director of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia Arthur Vanetsyan, commenting on the readiness of former head of State Customs of Armenia Armen Avetisyan to donate the property complex to the state.
When asked about the motives of this "broad gesture of goodwill", Artur Vanetsyan stated: "There is a corresponding article in the Armenian Criminal Code, according to which, if damage is caused to the state as a result of economic activity, then after its reimbursement the case stops."
To recall, on November 28, Armenian Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that as a result of the fight against corruption, the family of the former head of the Armenian Customs Service Armen Avetisyan recently asked the government, informing her that she would like to give the Golden Palace complex to the state Tsakhkadzor. "Apparently, the Avetisyans decided to take advantage of the possibilities of transitional justice," said Pashinyan. According to him, if the process is completed, the hotel complex will be sold, and the funds received, which, according to Pashinyan, about $ 20 million will be sent to the budget.
To note, Armen Avetisyan is accused of illegal business activities and the legalization of criminal proceeds in especially large amounts (money laundering).
