ArmInfo. "I congratulate all citizens of Armenia on such a significant day - parliamentary elections. Today, Armenian citizens should decide in which country they want to live," Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, who voted at the polling station 9/59, told reporters.
According to the President, by free will, Armenian citizens should decide on their choice regarding the future of their children. Consequently, according to Sargsyan, each voter must take his choice responsibly. "I hope that these elections will be free, fair and for the sake of the future," he said.
Snap parliamentary elections are being held today in Armenia, in which 9 parties and 2 blocs participate: the "My step" bloc headed by Armenian Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Republican Party of Armenia, Prosperous Armenia Party, Enlightened Armenia, Sasna Tsrer, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Orinats Yerkir, Citizen's Decision, National Progress, ''Christian-National Revival'' party and ''We'' bloc. Political parties need to overcome the 5% threshold and blocs-7% to enter parliament. If only two political forces overcome the threshold, the force which took the third place, regardless of the result, will also receive mandates, since the Constitution guarantees the presence in the representative body of at least three parties or blocs.
