The leader of the election list of the Republican Party, the former head of the Ministry of Defense Vigen Sargsyan, hopes that by the end of election day the Armenian society will become more united. "Armenia, which today is facing such important challenges, simply needs to consolidate forces. Forming an internal enemy is very dangerous for us," he told reporters after he voted at the polling station 9/47 in the center of Yerevan.
According to him, he has high hopes for the current parliamentary elections. Vigen Sargsyan urges all voters not to remain on the side and today to take an active part in the electoral process regardless of political preferences. "The worst thing you can do is stay at home. Be sure to come to the polls and consciously vote for the political force in which you invest your hopes for the future of your country," he said. The leader of the RPA list said that the third Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will certainly take part in the elections. At the same time, he abstained from calling on which polling station he would vote.
To note, snap parliamentary elections are being held in Armenia today, in which 9 parties and 2 blocs participate. The number of voters, according to the Central Election Commission, is 2,575,939 people. Today, starting from 8:00 am, 2010 polling stations have been opened all over the country, voting will end at 8:00 pm. Election are being observed by 8 international and 22 local organizations. Besides local media 32 foreign media are covering the elections.
