ArmInfo. Owners of right-hand drive cars have the right until March 1, 2019 to import their conveyances into the territory of Armenia. A similar decision was made at a meeting of the RA government on December 6.
To recall, on March 1, 2018, the Armenian parliament adopted in the second and final reading a draft law on a temporary ban from April 1 of this year about importing right-hand drive cars. This decision led to problems, since some importers were not aware of these legislative changes. According to businessmen, they incur daily losses because of cars that cannot pass customs clearance at the border.
Presenting the draft decision today, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia Bagrat Badalyan stressed that, according to the government's decision, it will be possible to import all right-hand drive cars that have already accumulated at customs points to Armenia by March 1, 2019. The owners of right-hand drive cars within six months after their import undertake to change the location of the steering wheel, register with the RA Police and calmly operate the car. As emphasized in this regard, Acting First Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, a similar decision to extend the terms of the import of right-hand drive cars is made last time and the government will not agree to more concessions.
