"This is my final concert in 2018. I am happy to conclude my concert tour in my homeland. This concert is important for me, as I am going to present to the audience a program full of premieres, this time focusing on contemporary Bulgarian music. I have performed works of Bulgarian composers in various countries on various occasions, including the recital within Pianissimo Festival in Sofia. Another significant occasion was the Orleans International Piano Competition, where I was awarded with the Andre Boucourechliev Prize for the best performance of a work by the renowned Bulgarian composer. I am glad to have an opportunity to present the music of this talented and progressive nation to the Armenian audience. My special thanks to the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria in Armenia Mrs. Maria Pavlova for her delicate approach and collaboration," says pianist Hayk Melikyan.
The 1900+ concert series launched in 2009 by the initiative of pianist Hayk Melikyan. It aims to promote contemporary and XX century international piano music to the Armenian audience. To this day, 1900+ concert series included music from different countries - Poland, USA, Switzerland, France, Japan, Argentina, Brazil, etc. The concerts of 1900+ are supported by foreign embassies to Armenia and other diplomatic missions.
