ArmInfo. Russia refused to supply the Bal-E coastal missile system to Azerbaijan. According to the "Kommersant" newspaper, the delivery of the missile complex failed because of the stance of the Russian Defense Ministry. The Russian military considered that even an export modification of a missile of this complex could carry a potential threat to the ships of Russia's Caspian Flotilla located in the Russian territorial waters.
The very refusal to supply one type of product is not critical for Russia: in recent years, Baku has purchased Russian weapons and equipment totaling $ 5 billion, the newspaper notes. According to a Kommersant source, the parties even initialed a contract involving the delivery of a small batch of BRK and several dozen 3M24 missiles (export version of the X-35E). "Bal-E" - an export version of the coastal missile complex "Ball", adopted for service in Russia in 2008. Developed in JSC "KB engineering" (Moscow) the mobile complex includes self-propelled command and control centers, self-propelled launchers with Kh- 35E type anti-ship missiles, transport-handling vehicles. Designed to control territorial waters, protect bases, coastal infrastructure and sea communications, the range of destruction - up to 120 km, the total ammunition complex - up to 64 missiles.
