ArmInfo.The German bank KfW will provide Armenia with a grant of 23.2 million euros for the implementation of the program of biodiversity conservation and stable local development. Ceremony The signing of the grant agreement took place yesterday in the presence of Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The document was signed by Acting Minister of Finance of Armenia Atom Janjughazyan, , Acting Minister of Nature Protection Eric Grigoryan and Director of the Regional Office of KfW Bank Klaus Weigel.
According to the press service of the government of the Republic of Armenia, the grant funds were provided by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany. The amount of financial assistance from Germany is unprecedented in the region and is one of the largest globally. Based on the need for efficient conservation and sustainable use of the rich and unique biodiversity of Armenia, the implementation of the program becomes more important and may be crucial for solving existing problems in this area, as well as in terms of establishing a qualitatively new level for managing specially protected natural territories. The program does not imply any territorial or geographical restrictions and can be implemented in any country rich in biodiversity. It provides a comprehensive framework for the implementation of measures for the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources and protected areas, management of natural resources and natural monuments, forest restoration, as well as socio- economic development and the promotion of ecological tourism.
