ArmInfo.The German KFW Development Bank will provide Armenia 23 million 208 thousand euros for a grant program for biodiversity conservation and sustainable local development. The corresponding proposal to sign the agreement was approved at a meeting of the government on November 22.
As sActing Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia Erik Grigoryan stated presenting the grant agreement, the funds will be directed not only to the conservation of biodiversity, but also to improve the socio- economic situation of the regions and the development of tourism.
According to the Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, if Armenia manages to manage its forestry properly, the financial benefit from "smart management" will be ten-fold higher than that obtained from deforestation.
