ArmInfo. An international scientific conference, commemorating the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up policy, organized by the Noravank Scientific and Educational Foundation, started in Yerevan.
As opening of the conference, Ambassador of China to Armenia Tian Erlong noted that since the beginning of the reforms, the Chinese economy has recorded a jump-like growth; the aggregate power of the country has also strengthened. According to him, over the past 40 years, the republic's GDP has increased 30 times; China has become the largest producer of industrial goods, the country with the largest gold reserves. "If in 1978 the share of GDP per capita was 381 Yuan, then in 2017 this figure reached $ 8 thousand 800. 740 million people over the past 40 years went out of poverty, adding to the number of people with average incomes. In China, the largest in the world the middle stratum, and this figure will increase significantly by 2020, "the ambassador said.
He noted that over the past 40 years, China has moved from a closed policy to a comprehensively open policy with Chinese capital entering the international market. "Currently, Beijing is promoting the Silk and Sea Silk Road policy, contributing to the global geopolitical and economic processes," the diplomat said.
The Ambassador cited the effective harmonization of socialism with the Chinese experience as the basis of success recorded by the country. "We are also open to advanced world experience, but not blindly adopting it, but adapting to Chinese realities. Our success was also due to the incredible ability to work of the Chinese people," the diplomat explained.
He stressed that the Chinese-Armenian friendly relations are rooted in the era of the Silk Road. "Now, our relations are characterized by a high level of mutual trust and development dynamics. The Chinese reform experience opens up new opportunities for building up bilateral relations", the Ambassador concluded.
In turn, a Professor at the Institute of World Economy and Politics of the Academy of Social Sciences of the PRC Sung Hoon said that by the end of 2018, China's GDP per capita would be $ 10,000. "China has become the second largest economy in the world, and the process of economic growth continues," the expert said.
He further explained the reasons for the rapid progress of the Chinese economy. "The first reason is that China abandoned the original model of socialism based on 100% state property in favor of people's property, and the second is that the country became the leader of global production," said Hun, stressing that the reforms aimed at ensuring the country's independent development. and self-sufficient economy. But for this, as the expert noted, advanced foreign technologies were needed, for the acquisition of which currency was needed, which was a problem at the initial stage of the reforms, so the government revised the policy of a closed economy in favor of an open one. "We realized that socialism should contribute to improving people's well-being. To this end, we opened our markets; joint ventures and free economic zones were created. But this does not mean that China abandoned the socialist development model," Sung Hoon concluded.
