ArmInfo. The views of the former and current command of the Armenian Armed Forces on the acquisition by Armenia of Swedish military fighters diverge.
As former Deputy Defense Minister Artur Aghabekyan wrote on his Facebook page, the use of fighters in aviation will be almost impossible under any military scenario. ''I want to warn you that the Armenian armed forces did not need fighters either yesterday or today. Especially in our days, in the conditions of rapidly developing high technologies, the use of fighters becomes practically impossible, not only in Armenian aviation, but also in any other. By the way, the Russian political establishment adheres to the similar point of view'', Agabekyan wrote.
In response, Spokesman of the Armenian Ministry of Defense Artsrun Hovhannisyan wrote: "It is particularly painful to listen to negative assessments regarding the feasibility of using multifunctional air forces from the former command of the Armenian armed forces, which have gone through a brilliant military path. But everyone has right to express own opinions. However, we are now building an army of the 21st century''. Yesterday, Armenian Acting Defense Minister David Tonoyan announced Armenia's intention to purchase Swedish military fighters.
