ArmInfo. Armenian President Armen Sargsyan will appeal to the Constitutional Court to determine the compliance of the Constitution with the law on amending and supplementing the law "On Parliamentary Regulations".
The presidential statement on this subject, in particular, states: "All laws must comply with the Constitution and serve their goals. The National Assembly adopted on October 2 a law amending and supplementing the law On Parliamentary Regulations", which became the cause of public debate and misinterpretation. Part of the society negatively perceived the document. Remaining committed to my position, I instructed my staff to study in detail the international experience on this issue, as well as the rationale for this draft law. Conducted studies indicate certain constitutional issues. With this in mind, and in order to ensure the supremacy of the Constitution, I intend to contact the Constitutional Court to determine whether this document conforms to the Constitution. "
It should be noted that the government of Armenia believes that this document is aimed at complicating the procedure for the dissolution of parliament and, as a result torpedoing early elections by the former ruling party and its supporters.
