ArmInfo. Discussion of the draft law "On compensation for damage to victims during the events of March 1, 2008" has been postponed.
To note the discussion of this bill was to take place on August 17 at a meeting of the standing parliamentary commission on state legal issues and human rights. As the head of the commission Gevorg Kostanyan stated, the discussion was postponed due to the absence of the main speaker, the head of the Yelk parliamentary faction Lena Nazaryan. In addition, Kostanyan said that the wording of this law is still being discussed in the government and has not yet been finalized.
To recall after the presidential elections in Armenia in 2008, bloody events occurred in Yerevan on March 1. A series of protests against the results of the February 19 elections ended in clashes with law enforcement agencies. As a result, more than 10 people died, about 230 people were injured. These events were not fully investigated, and those responsible for the direct execution of the demonstrators were never found.
