ArmInfo. Lieutenant-General, former Deputy Head of the Armenian Police Hunan Poghosyan gladly accepted the government's offer to take the post of governor of Syunik region.
He stated this on October 16 in an interview with journalists. As Poghosyan stated, after 8 years of his tenure as deputy chief of police, he needed a short rest. There was a pause, and today he is ready to begin a new job.
Responding to the remark that people accuse him of being involved and links with the old regime, Poghosyan said: "They are engaged in servility. I serve the people and the law and try to be useful to my people." However, as indicated by the Lieutenant-General, he is sympathetic to any criticism. Speaking about his forthcoming work in the region, Hunan Poghosyan said that, first of all, he would create an atmosphere of trust so that "the people would understand that they are the master of the situation."
To note, Hunan Poghosyan was the first deputy head of the Armenian police, who resigned on May 11.
"I made a decision on resignation. I ask you not to look for subtext in my words and decisions," he wrote, stressing that he always acted according to his conscience. "I have always served, and I will serve the Republic of Armenia, wherever this service is required, and if I am sure that I can give maximum to my state and people," the statement of Hunan Poghosyan read. Today at the cabinet meeting the government will approve his candidacy for the post of head of the Syunik region.
