ArmInfo. The "Swifts" aerobatic team congratulated Yerevan on its 2800th anniversary in a special day.
Thus, today, on the eve of the celebration of the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan and the 20th anniversary of the Erebuni aviation military base, the "Open Doors Day" was announced at the airport. At the opening of the solemn event, the Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin noted that the base in Erebuni is a visible expression of the fraternal relations that have been forged between our countries for many centuries. "This is a visible expression of the military fraternity, which is sealed by the blood of our peoples in the common battles for freedom and good. I want to congratulate the Yerevan citizens on the grand date and personnel of the base on the date celebrated today. Congratulations and wish a beautiful holiday," the ambassador said.
In turn, the commander of the Erebuni airbase, Alexander Petrov, recalled that it was in October 1998 that MiG-29 aircraft began to fly at this airbase, on which pilots of the Swifts aerobatic team from Kubinka, Moscow, demonstrated aerobatics today.
The culmination of the event was the demonstration of an air show in the skies over Armenia, by the illustrative aerobatic flight group "Swifts". The pilots made a special new program to show the figures of complex and aerobatic flying on MiG-29 airplanes. The Yerevan citizens also saw the famous "Nesterov's noose", better known as the dead loop, "Bell", "fixed barrel", "slide", "corkscrew", "combat turn", "tulip". The Russian ambassador, sharing his impressions of the air show, said that it was really cool. "I am very pleased to be here, today is a double date, the main festive event, of course, is the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan and the 20th anniversary of the arrival of our MiG-29 aircraft to this base, designed by your outstanding designer Mikoyan," he noted.
According to the Ambassador, the work of the Russian pilots, which helps to ensure a peaceful sky over Armenia and in the region as a whole, deserves the highest praise. He wished the pilots further success in protecting the interests of Armenia and Russia, and a peaceful sky.
